2014 NZ Masters Games
7 - 8 February
Dunedin
On the way to winning the E quad
Prepared by another of Jim Little's excellent training programmes, Dorle, Stéphane, Danny and Mike struck gold at the Masters Games. It can't get much better than golds in all outdoor rowing events Union contested as well as two silvers. Armed with ex Otago rower Brendan O'Dea's local knowledge to stay close to the sea wall, Union crews steered their way successfully throughout the regatta where some others found their way into the middle of the shipping channel by the end of their races. Harbour rowing in Dunedin creates a very different set of on the water conditions to Kerrs Reach. An overcast day and Dunedin's version of a light breeze meant that the harbour had some wave action to contend with at times. However, we did enough to beat the locals and the visitors!
